Navidad 2011

I realize Christmas
was a couple months ago but hey, I’m a little behind on here. :P My first
Christmas in Honduras was a memorable one. I learned of the foods traditionally
eaten and customs celebrated. All with my family here that is super special. In
Honduras Christmas is celebrated on the 24th. In the past they
celebrated with fireworks and I’m told it was quite the spectacle. Now they
aren’t permitted but there were still some that we heard and saw. It is a day spent with family. I got to help
with the food prep and cooking which was fun. There was chicken, pork, mashed
potatoes (the international part of the meal that I brought to the table. J) , salad, rice, cheesecake (another thing I
made) and torrejas which taste kind of like French toast but sweeter that are
cooked in milk. Usually people wait until midnight to eat. We passed the time
cooking and talking. At midnight we celebrated with a hug and dug in!
Helping prepare the food.
The next day, the 25th.
We headed off to the beach! After spending 24 years celebrating Christmas with
snow I didn’t complain much. J However it was a lot different and almost didn’t feel like Christmas
without it. After a few hours of driving we arrived to a very hot and sunny
beach to rest and relax.
Me and my fam. (and a friend) I love them so much!
My lil bro, isn't he adorable?? :)
