Mission trip to Copan - Day 1

First I want to say thank you to everyone who prayed for us during the trip. I think we all came away from it with our eyes opened more to the need around us and knowing that while our efforts may seem small in comparison, a seed was planted. We left this past Thursday with 10 of us piled into the pickup...

 Oh yeah, all the stuff was in the pickup too

.

The trip itself was 8 hours of pure fun which may have included some snacking...

Such as chips...

 avacado...

 and Coke (to name a few)

 We arrived looking something like this. (yeah, I got to ride most of the way in the truck bed, how cool is that??)

Friday morning we headed out in the for "La Pintada". We had to leave the car at a certain point and hike the rest of the way.We prayed and started out. Along the way several children met us with dolls they make from husks asking us to buy one. We talked and invited them to join us for a Bible lesson and games.

 Here you can see the dolls.

 Reaching the top, the village of Maya Chorti was like nothing I'd seen first hand before. The houses made literally of sticks and mud that didn't look like they kept rain or wind out. No beds, no electricity, no water.

We started out playing some games and singing songs with the children to get to know them a little.



We also taught them a memory verse and shared a Bible lesson.
