Mission Possible
Posted by Ashley Hoover
For the past five Friday nights we did a sort of 5-Day Club/VBS using the Mission Possible theme for a Chinese church. It was a ton of fun being with these kids. They were an energetic bunch so you had to be ready for anything! We used the Wordless Book Visualized lessons during story time and then I taught them the Memory verses and that week's symbol on the Flipper Flapper. Since most of these kids really knew thier stuff we tried to encourage and challenge them to go share it with someone else. They all got cool spy shades, a Mission Possible shirt, a Wordless Book bracelet, a Flipper Flapper and codebook that we worked through together. In all we had over 90 children come over the five weeks and they seemed to really enjoy it. They were "authorized" as secret agents the last night and recieved a certificate for coming. Here are some photos to give you an idea of what it looked like.
Bible lesson time.
These are my kids. We had fun and I hope they will put into practice what we talked about and share their faith with others.
Game time! Everyone's favorite I'm pretty sure. Side note, you only see a third or so of the kids at any one time. We split them up two grades at a time to make it more managable and had them rotate stations during the evening. (Mine worked a little different in that I divided both my grades as well. One had snack while I taught the other then I switched. In one night I would teach the same thing six times.)
Trying to line up for the opening session. Some nights it worked better than others. :) The purple shirted people are youth from the church that helped us out with crowd control. We couldn't have done it without them!
Plaid Man, Kid Plaid, (or Glad) and the secret agents doing a skit.
The Mission IS possible and it starts now with you! Who are you going to tell about Jesus this week? I challenge you to do it just like these kids. If you do, let me know you did!

Wow! 90 kids - that's AMAZING! Looks like a blast! Praying these kids take the truths that they learned and share them with others!
I did today. In a way. Long story, but I turned down a job offer and got to share some of my reasons why. You never know when opportunities will come your way...
